Original version of the image used for the background of the article. I really liked the blue overtone of the mountains, but the greenery on the mountains and around the river was a little too much color, and felt too busy. I used a layer mask in Photoshop to first grayscale the mountain area, then overlay a solid blue fill. I also edited the colors of the sky.
